2D Animator

We are looking for a highly skilled and passionate 2D Animator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating visually engaging, intuitive, and user-friendly interface designs for web, mobile, and game applications. You will work closely with product managers, developers, and other designers to deliver a seamless and enjoyable user experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of component based design, a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, and an ability to translate complex ideas into simple, elegant solutions.

NOTE: Candidates must be open to work within USA time zones EST/EDT and PST/PDT hours.

Role & responsibilities:

• Design and produce high-quality 2D animations, motion graphics, and visual effects for games, apps, videos, and other digital media.
• Create storyboards, animatics, and timing layouts to visualize animation sequences and scene flow.
• Collaborate with designers, illustrators, and art directors to translate static concepts into dynamic motion.
• Develop smooth transitions, expressive character animations, and interactive effects that enhance storytelling and user engagement.
• Work closely with developers and producers to ensure animations are technically optimized and integrated effectively into final products.
• Maintain a consistent visual style and animation quality across all assets, adhering to brand and project guidelines.
• Apply principles of timing, spacing, anticipation, and squash and stretch to create life-like, appealing motion.
• Revise and refine animations based on feedback from clients,and team members to achieve the best visual outcome.

Stay up to date with animation trends, motion design techniques, and new features in Animate CC, After Effects, and related tools

Preferred candidate profile/Requirements:

Proven experience (typically 14 years) as a 2D Animator or Motion Designer, preferably in gaming, media production, or digital entertainment.

• Strong proficiency in Adobe Animate , After Effects, and other animation or compositing tools (e.g., Toon Boom Harmony, Spine, or similar).
• Solid understanding of animation principles, storytelling, and pacing.
• A portfolio or demo reel showcasing your animation skills, creative approach, and range of motion styles.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce clean, fluid, and visually cohesive animation sequences.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for bringing ideas to life through motion.

Preferred Skills (Bonus):

• Experience animating for games, including character animations, environmental effects, UI motion, and interactive elements (e.g., HUD animations, transitions, and in-game effects).
• Strong understanding of animation optimization techniques, performance tuning, and adapting motion for different screen sizes and device capabilities.
• Knowledge of VFX integration and compositing for 2D assets within game engines or video workflows (e.g., Unity, Unreal, or similar).
• Understanding of cinematic principles, camera movement, and timing for cutscenes or promotional videos.
• Experience collaborating with designers and developers to ensure animations align with gameplay mechanics and user interaction flow.
• Comfort experimenting with new animation tools, plug-ins, and motion design trends to continuously enhance visual storytelling.
