Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled SQL Server Database Administrator with at least 2 years of experience in managing, optimizing, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments. The primary focus will be on database migrations, AlwaysOn availability groups, RDS SQL Server administration, and performance tuning.

This role demands strong technical skills, proactive monitoring, and hands-on problem-solving abilities to ensure database reliability, availability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Database Administration & Maintenance

  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances (on-prem and AWS RDS).

  • Manage backup/restore strategies, patching, and upgrades.

  • Implement and monitor AlwaysOn Availability Groups and high availability (HA)/disaster recovery (DR) solutions.

  • Migrations & Cloud

  • Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises to AWS RDS SQL Server.

  • Support schema migration, data migration, and cutover activities with minimal downtime.

  • Troubleshoot migration issues and optimize post-migration performance.

  • Performance & Optimization

  • Perform query optimization, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis.

  • Proactively monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning measures.

  • Automate routine tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, or AWS tools.

  • Security & Compliance

  • Implement user roles, permissions, and security best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as an MSSQL DBA.
  • Good understanding of SQL Server internals, T-SQL, and database design.
  • Experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups, clustering, and HA/DR setups.
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS RDS SQL Server administration.
  • Proven experience in database migrations (on-prem to AWS or cross-version migrations).
  • Good understanding on performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Good understanding of security (roles, authentication, encryption).
  • Familiarity with backup/restore strategies and disaster recovery planning.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to AWS services like DMS (Database Migration Service), CloudWatch, and S3 for database operations.
  • Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
