- Core responsibilities
- System installation and configuration: Set up and configure Linux operating systems and related software for physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Performance and availability: Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability, and optimizing resource usage.
- Security management: Implement and maintain security measures, manage user accounts and permissions, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, apply patches and upgrades, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve system outages.
- Automation: Create and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine administrative tasks and improve efficiency.
- Backup and disaster recovery: Perform regular system backups and manage disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and minimize data loss.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate documentation of system configurations, operations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration and support: Work with other teams (e.g., developers, network engineers) and provide technical support to users.
- Desired skills and knowledge Strong understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or Python.
