Linux Administrator

• A Linux administrator installs, configures, and maintains Linux systems, ensuring their stability, security, and performance. Key responsibilities include monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, managing user accounts and permissions, performing backups, and automating tasks with scripting languages like Bash or Python. They also handle security measures, disaster recovery, and collaborate with other IT teams to manage Linux-based infrastructure.

• System installation and configuration: Set up and configure Linux operating systems and related software for physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Performance and availability: Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability, and optimizing resource usage.
• Security management: Implement and maintain security measures, manage user accounts and permissions, and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance, apply patches and upgrades, troubleshoot technical issues, and resolve system outages.
• Automation: Create and maintain scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine administrative tasks and improve efficiency.
• Backup and disaster recovery: Perform regular system backups and manage disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity and minimize data loss.
• Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate documentation of system configurations, operations, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Collaboration and support: Work with other teams (e.g., developers, network engineers) and provide technical support to users.
• Desired skills and knowledge Strong understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS).
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or Python.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM). Knowledge of networking fundamentals and firewall configuration.
