Under the direction on the Software Development Manager and Information Systems Director, the GIS Coordinator and IT Data Team Lead will manage the district's GIS system as well as lead the IT Data Tech team.

Classified position is announced to all qualified applicants. 8 hours per day / 255 days per year / Table 18 / Salary within district guidelines The Davis School District seeks a highly skilled GIS Coordinator to manage, develop, and implement geospatial systems and analysis to support the district's long-term planning, student enrollment management, and facility operations. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in GIS with strong analytical and communication skills to deliver accurate, data-driven insights that guide district decisions. The GIS Coordinator serves as the district's lead geospatial specialist, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and usability of spatial data related to school boundaries, student demographics, and community growth patterns. This role works closely with Planning, IT, and Administrative Services to provide maps, reports, and dashboards that enhance transparency and operational efficiency. The IT Data Tech team manages integration with 3rd party systems such as Clever and UTRex. The team also develops and maintains PowerBI reports serving many departments in the district. The team processes requests for data from Encore. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Administer, maintain, and update the district's enterprise GIS database, ensuring spatial accuracy and consistency across datasets. * Conduct spatial and demographic analyses to support school boundary adjustments, enrollment balancing, and site planning for new schools. * Develop, design, and manage interactive web maps and ArcGIS Online dashboards for district departments and public engagement. * Perform geocoding and spatial joins for student address data to support accurate boundary assignments and student counts. * Create and automate geoprocessing models in ModelBuilder and ArcPy to streamline repetitive tasks and reporting processes. * Prepare detailed maps, reports, and presentations for use by district leadership and the Board of Education. * Collaborate with local governments, planning departments, and developers to track housing growth and evaluate impacts on school capacity. * Ensure GIS data aligns with federal, state, and local data standards and supports interoperability across systems. * Provide GIS training and technical support to district staff and departments as needed. * Support long-range planning initiatives and population projections through demographic modeling and trend analysis. * Support PowerBI development and integration. * Ensure accuracy in data reporting. Qualifications and Education * Bachelor's degree required in Geography, GIS, Urban or Regional Planning, Computer Science, or a related field. * Master's degree preferred in GIS, Urban Planning, Data Analytics, or a related discipline. * Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in GIS, preferably in education, government, or urban planning environments. * Demonstrated proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ModelBuilder, and ArcPy. * Experience with SQL databases, Excel, and data visualization tools such as Power BI preferred. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
