The Behaviour Counsellor plays a vital role in supporting students' social, emotional, and behavioural development. The position focuses on identifying behavioural challenges, providing guidance, counselling, and interventions, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and school leadership to ensure a positive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibility :
Roles & Responsibilities
Student Support
Provide one-on-one counselling sessions for students facing behavioural, emotional, or social challenges.
- Develop behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to individual student needs.
Support students in developing coping strategies, conflict resolution skills, and positive behaviours.
Classroom & School Engagement
Observe classroom behaviours and provide strategies to teachers for effective management.
- Conduct group counselling sessions and workshops on topics such as stress management, peer relationships, bullying, and emotional well-being.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment.
Parent & Teacher Collaboration
Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates and guidance on students' behavioural progress.
- Work closely with teachers and coordinators to address behavioural concerns.
Organize parent workshops on child psychology, behaviour management, and mental health awareness.
Assessment & Reporting
Assess students' behavioural patterns using observation, interviews, and assessments.
- Maintain confidential case records and progress reports.
Provide timely feedback to the school management with recommendations.
Professional Development
Stay updated with the latest research in child and adolescent behaviour management.
- Attend professional development programs and training as required by the school.
SkillsDescription :
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Psychology / Counselling / Child Development or related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a school counsellor or behaviour therapist.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent psychology.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and professionalism.
