Business Intelligence Engineer

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources including databases, spreadsheets, and external systems.
• Design, implement, and manage scalable ETL pipelines and data workflows.
• Build and maintain data warehouses and data marts to support business analytics.
• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, scalability, and optimal performance across BI systems.
• Implement data access controls, partitioning strategies, and backup mechanisms.
• Automate recurring data processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues and load failures.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of BI processes for future reference.
• Collaborate with analytics, product, and engineering teams to deliver clean, structured datasets.
• Integrate and support ERP systems such as Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), ensuring seamless data flow between enterprise applications and BI platforms.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Mathematics, Statistics, or MCA.
• 3–6 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles.

Skills

• Strong proficiency in relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
• Expertise in writing SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.

• Hands-on experience with BI and ETL tools such as:

• Microsoft Power BI

• Snowflake
• SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
• BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS)

• Tableau

• Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and architecture.

• Experience with cloud data platforms and APIs.
• Strong scripting skills for data manipulation and automation.
• Knowledge of data security, access control, and governance best practices.
• Ability to maintain and scale BI infrastructure.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and data governance frameworks.

Working Conditions

• The work mode of Finisar India is Hybrid i.e. 3 days at office (Tuesday through Thursday)
• Should be flexible to support during different time zones
