About our Team:-
We are a diverse team of software engineers, data scientists and computer technologists. We research and implement reusable Microservices, specifically relating to the ingest of Patents and Journals. The microservices that we build are a mix of Java and Python, running on Nifi within Kubernetes. You will be enthusiastic about building on this Cloud infrastructure, and you will have plenty of opportunity to expand your knowledge in this field.
About the Role:
This Role need research and implement reusable Microservices, specifically relating to the ingest of Patents and Journals. The microservices that we build are a mix of Java and Python, running on Nifi within Kubernetes. You will be enthusiastic about building on this Cloud infrastructure, and you will have plenty of opportunity to expand your knowledge in this field.
Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining Java code to provide reusable libraries and microservices.
- You will need to translate product requirements into clean, scalable, and reusable code, with minimal supervision. You should be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of your components and delivering high-quality solutions.
- Performance tuning your code to ensure that it runs optimally under expected workloads, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
- Writing comprehensive documentation to facilitate easy understanding, discovery, and reuse by other teams, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Mentoring junior team members and new hires, helping them ramp up quickly and succeed, while also learning from others in a collaborative environment.
- Conducting thorough code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices (SOLID principles etc.), and aligning with explicit product requirements and quality standards.
- Work with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
- Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
- Complete complex bug fixes.
- Work closely with other development team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into software designs.
- Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
- Operate in an agile environment while collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Resolve complex technical issues as necessary.
- Train entry-level software engineers as directed by department management, ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles.
- Keep abreast of new technology developments.
- Design and work with complex data models.
- Mentor less-senior software developers on development methodologies and optimization techniques.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required
- Be a highly proficient Java developer with extensive experience with the latest versions of Java, having demonstrated ability to write efficient, DRY, and maintainable code.
- Have a strong background with Java development tools, particularly Spring and Maven, and be comfortable working within an Agile team.
- Have a strong knowledge of containerisation technologies (including Docker and Kubernetes) and CICD tools (including Jenkins and Github Actions)
- Possess in-depth knowledge of AWS cloud services (or other cloud platforms) and RESTful API design and implementation.
- Be intellectually curious, quick to learn new technologies and concepts, and eager to expand your skillset in cloud-native development, microservices, and automation.
- Exhibit a proactive, investigative approach to complex problem-solving, with the confidence to work independently and own your deliverables.
- Be a clear communicator, capable of explaining technical topics to non-technical stakeholders both verbally and in documentation.
- Demonstrate a broad interest in software development, with understanding of other programming languages (such as Python, Scala, shell scripts) and how they can complement your work.
- Be comfortable working with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and regions, fostering an inclusive team environment.
- Show a strong interest in personal growth and continuous learning to keep pace with evolving technologies and industry best practices.
