We are seeking a dedicated
Technical Superintendent
to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of assigned vessels. This role requires close collaboration with the Ship Management Team to maintain high standards of safety, environmental protection, and vessel performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage planned maintenance systems, repairs, and spare usage across assigned vessels.
- Report damages or defects impacting vessel classification and liaise with Class authorities.
- Prepare and support PSC, Flag, Oil Major, and other inspections.
- Oversee vessel budgets, ensuring cost control and reporting deviations to the Fleet Manager.
- Act as the main point of contact for Clients regarding day-to-day vessel operations.
- Plan and supervise dry-docking, repairs, modifications, and conversions.
- Monitor vessel KPIs (speed, fuel consumption, etc.) and implement corrective measures.
- Conduct ship visits and voyage assessments to evaluate vessel condition and safety practices.
- Collaborate with risk management teams, report incidents, and handle insurance claims.
- Lead officer selection, briefings, and performance appraisals to strengthen safety culture.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Recognized Engineering or Naval Architecture qualification / relevant seagoing experience
Shipping industry background
Strong English communication skills (written & verbal)
Solid planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent
Membership in IMarEST or equivalent professional body
Experience in budget administration and financial reporting
