Job Description

Position: Senior Quality Engineer

Qualification: BE / Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering

Experience: Minimum 6–8 years in sheet metal fabrication industry, preferably from enclosures, control panels, and precision sheet metal manufacturing setup.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process – from raw material to final dispatch.
• Carry out in-process and final inspections as per drawing, standards, and customer requirements.
• Prepare, implement, and maintain PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation and ensure submission to customers.
• Conduct and analyze MSA (Measurement System Analysis) and SPC (Statistical Process Control) for process capability and control.
• Investigate customer complaints/rejections and implement Problem-Solving Techniques such as 8D Methodology, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), Fishbone Diagram, and CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Action).
• Support and coordinate during customer, internal, and third-party audits.
• Maintain calibration records and ensure timely calibration of all instruments.
• Prepare quality reports – rejection analysis, inspection reports, and quality MIS.
• Review and analyse production processes to identify quality gaps.
• Generate and review quality metrics to provide regular updates to management.
• Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to ensure quality of raw materials and components.
• Train production staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Conduct regular quality awareness sessions for operators and team leads.
• Train and guide operators and junior engineers on quality tools and techniques.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for defect reduction, process enhancement, and customer satisfaction.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (Laser Cutting, Punching, Bending, Welding, Powder Coating, Assembly).
• Proficiency in Engineering Drawings & GD&T interpretation.
• Hands-on expertise in measuring instruments (Vernier, Micro-meter, Height Gauge, etc.).
• Knowledge and working experience of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
• Practical exposure to 8D, RCA, Fishbone, CAPA methodologies.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office – Excel (Data Analysis, MIS), PowerPoint (Presentations), Word (Documentation), etc.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Ability to lead quality improvements and mentor team members.
