Role & responsibilities

Plant Mechanical Maintenance:

  • Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment across the plant, including printing, die-cutting, pasting, lamination, and finishing machines.
  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure maximum equipment availability.
  • Diagnose recurring mechanical failures and implement root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
  • Supervise installation, alignment, commissioning, and modification of mechanical equipment.

Troubleshooting & Hands-on Support:

  • Provide strong hands-on support for gearboxes, bearings, shafts, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
  • Coordinate with electrical and production teams for integrated troubleshooting of machine-related issues.
  • Ensure quick response to breakdowns to reduce downtime and production losses.

Documentation, ERP & Reporting:

  • Maintain and update maintenance records, breakdown logs, PM schedules, and spare parts consumption in the ERP system.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and improvement action plans.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of SOPs, checklists, and work instructions.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Handle and support internal, external, customer, and safety audits (BRCGS, ISO, SEDEX, etc.) related to mechanical maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, GMP, safety standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Close audit observations through timely CAPA implementation and documentation.

Safety & SOP Adherence:

  • Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, including LOTO, machine guarding, and safe maintenance practices.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and training for technicians on SOPs and safe working methods.

Team & Vendor Management:

  • Lead and guide mechanical technicians and contractors, ensuring skill development and productivity.
  • Coordinate with vendors and OEMs for spares, AMC, overhauling, and technical support.
  • Monitor spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical mechanical spares.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive initiatives for reliability improvement, energy efficiency, and reduction of maintenance costs.
  • Support modernization, modification, and improvement projects across the plant.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Strong hands-on experience in mechanical troubleshooting and plant maintenance.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gear systems, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
  • Understanding of packaging and printing machinery will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems for maintenance reporting and inventory control.
  • Good knowledge of SOPs, safety systems, and audit requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
