Job Summary:

The Assistant Professor Fashion Technology is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring students, contributing to curriculum development, engaging in research and innovation, and supporting academic and institutional activities. The role requires a strong blend of theoretical knowledge, practical expertise, and industry exposure in fashion and apparel technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Academic Delivery

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, practical sessions, and studio-based learning in Fashion Technology subjects.
  • Teach courses such as Apparel Production, Textile Science, Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Fashion Illustration, CAD for Fashion, and Fashion Merchandising (as applicable).
  • Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment tools in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, practical exams, projects, and internal assessments.

Curriculum & Academic Development

  • Contribute to syllabus design, curriculum updates, and introduction of new courses aligned with industry trends.
  • Integrate sustainable fashion practices, new technologies, and innovation into teaching methodologies.
  • Participate in academic audits, accreditation processes, and IQAC activities.

Research & Professional Development

  • Undertake research, publish papers in reputed journals, and present at conferences.
  • Apply for research grants, consultancy projects, or industry collaborations.
  • Continuously update knowledge through workshops, FDPs, MOOCs, and industry exposure.

Student Mentoring & Support

  • Act as a faculty mentor and guide students in academic and career development.
  • Supervise student projects, internships, and industry training programs.
  • Encourage student participation in fashion shows, exhibitions, competitions, and design showcases.

Industry & Institutional Engagement

  • Build and maintain industry linkages for guest lectures, internships, and placements.
  • Assist in organizing seminars, workshops, fashion events, and institutional activities.
  • Support admissions, examinations, placement activities, and departmental administration.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's and Master's degree in Fashion Technology / Fashion Design / Apparel Technology / Textile Technology or related discipline.

  • Ph.D. in relevant field is preferred / as per UGC / AICTE norms.

  • Experience:

  • Teaching experience in a recognized institution is desirable.

  • Industry experience in apparel manufacturing, fashion design, or related sectors will be an added advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong subject knowledge in fashion and apparel technology.
  • Proficiency in fashion-related software (CAD, pattern making, garment design tools).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to blend theory with hands-on practical training.
  • Commitment to academic excellence and student-centered learning.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to take up institutional responsibilities beyond teaching.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and administrative teams.
  • Adherence to institutional policies, academic ethics, and professional standards.
