A Male Phlebotomist in Home Collection is responsible for collecting blood and other diagnostic samples from patients at their residences, ensuring accurate sample handling, and maintaining professional patient interactions. This role is integral to diagnostic services, especially for patients who are homebound or prefer at-home testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sample Collection: Perform venipuncture or fingerstick procedures to collect blood samples using vacutainers. Collect other specimens like urine or swabs as required.
  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients professionally, explain the collection process to alleviate any concerns, and ensure comfort during the procedure.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete requisition forms, label specimens with patient details, and maintain records of all collections.
  • Sample Handling: Ensure proper storage, transportation, and timely dispatch of samples to the laboratory to maintain integrity.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to infection control and safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Equipment Management: Maintain and prepare collection kits, ensuring all necessary materials are available for each visit.
  • Communication: Coordinate with laboratory staff and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations and timely reportingQualifications & Skills
  • Educational Background: DMLT, BMLT, B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in phlebotomy, preferably with home collection services.
  • Licensing: Possession of a valid two-wheeler driving license is often required.
  • Communication: Proficiency in local languages; basic English communication skills are advantageous.
  • Personal Attributes: Professional demeanor, empathy, attention to detail, and reliability.
