Job Title: Principal Engineer - Java

Location: Bangalore

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Adopt a 'Design to Run' mentality to architect robust solutions that are fully supportable in a production environment
  • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, design reviews, and mentoring of senior engineers.
  • Champion DevSecOps practices and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Provide developmental advice and consult for business case/ideation, discovery, inception and enhancement requests by examining current vs target architectures ensuring align with ES strategy and architecture standards
  • Work with senior technical and business management teams in identifying issues of current state architecture, developing target state architecture with the ability to communicate the features and benefits
  • Effectively lead and influence business partners, peers, team members and vendors
  • Effectively challenges business leaders to obtain the best technology solutions and fit with ES strategy

Essential Skills:

  • 14+ years of experience in software engineering; 3+ years in a Principal Engineer or Staff Engineer role.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in engineering teams and across tools and technologies.
  • Strong risk mindset with the ability to identify, discuss, and act on risks.
  • Applied AI/ML experience, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Model Control Protocols (MCP), Generative AI and Agentic AI, Engineering-focused AI tools (e.g., CoPilot)
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: - AWS Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, Fargate, VPC, Subnets, Route Tables, Load Balancer, IAM Roles & Policies, Beanstalk, Workspaces, VM Hosting; Serverless architecture; Containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Programming Languages: - TypeScript, Java, Python, C#
  • Databases: - AWS Aurora, RDS, Redis, ElasticCache, Oracle
  • Messaging & Eventing: - SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Kafka (MKS)
  • CI/CD & DevOps: - GitHub, GitLab Actions, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, TeamCity, Jenkins, SonarQube/Cloud, Snyk
  • Observability & Monitoring: - OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Observe, CloudWatch, Splunk/ObservInc, AppDynamics, CloudWatch Canary
  • Security: - Vault, AWS Certificate Manager, AWS Secrets Manager, Security Management, Automation Suite, and Secret Manager
  • Engineering Practices: - TDD, BDD, Test Automation Frameworks, Deployment methodologies, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • System Design: - Microservices architecture, Event-driven systems, API design, Data-intensive application design, technical debt management
  • Payments & Standards (Preferred):- ISO 20022, SWIFT, BIAN, NPP

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
  • AWS Solutions Architect – Professional
  • AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional
  • AI Platform and Machine Learning – Specialty
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) / Developer (CKD)
