Job Title Project Assistant (R & D)

Location Dhayari & Pirangut Pune, Maharashtra

Qualifications M. Sc. Microbiology / Industrial Microbiology

Experience - 5 – 7 years relevant exp.

Pref Industry – Agri. Biotech / Bio Pesticide / Fertilizers/ FMCG / Agriculture

Key Skills -

  • Microbial isolation, screening, and characterization
  • Plant–microbe interaction studies (PGPR, biocontrol, etc.)
  • Molecular biology and microbial identification techniques
  • Formulation development (microbial/ bacterial/ fungal, etc.)
  • Shelf-life and stability testing of formulations
  • Regulatory and biosafety compliance (biofertilizers, biopesticides)
  • Documentation, report writing, and data management
  • Downstream processing for biomass
  • Experimental design and statistical data analysis
  • Project planning and time management
  • Spray drying, freeze drying, lyophilization, fluid bed drying

Roles & Responsibilities-

Microbial Research & Screening

  • Isolate, culture, and maintain beneficial microbes (bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes, etc.) for agricultural use.
  • Characterize microbial strains for traits such as plant growth promotion, nutrient solubilization, pest/pathogen suppression, or stress tolerance.
  • Conduct lab- and greenhouse-scale assays to evaluate efficacy.

Formulation Development

  • Develop solid, liquid, and encapsulated formulations for single or consortia of microbial strains.
  • Evaluate carriers, stabilizers, and additives to improve microbial survival and product stability.
  • Optimize formulation parameters (pH, moisture, particle size, etc.) to enhance shelf life and field performance.

Process & Scale-Up

  • Collaborate with fermentation teams for upstream and downstream process optimization.
  • Assist in scaling up formulations from lab to pilot and production scale.
  • Support technology transfer to production teams.

Quality & Stability Testing

  • Conduct physicochemical, microbiological, and stability studies under different environmental conditions.
  • Develop and standardize QC protocols for microbial load, contamination, and shelf life.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed experimental records and technical reports.
  • Contribute to product dossiers, patents, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with biosafety and environmental regulations.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Present findings in internal R & D meetings and contribute to strategic product development.
