Position Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented
Li-ion Cell Testing Engineer

to join our Battery R&D and Testing team. The role focuses on comprehensive testing and validation of Li-ion cells and battery packs, covering performance, safety, abuse, and environmental aspects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, hands-on lab experience, and a keen ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Cell & Pack Testing

  • Conduct performance, life cycle, abuse, and environmental testing of Li-ion cells and battery packs.
  • Perform Hybrid Pulse Power Characterization (HPPC), ACIR/DCIR measurements, and cycle life assessments.
  • Support battery pack-level validation for performance, reliability, and safety.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Collect, process, and analyze large datasets using Python, Excel, and statistical tools.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports with methodologies, results, insights, and recommendations.
  • Present findings to internal teams, highlighting key trends, anomalies, and improvement areas.

Standards & Compliance

  • Execute testing in compliance with UL, ISO, IEC, and automotive standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to lab safety protocols and best practices.

Failure Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Investigate anomalies and conduct root cause analysis of cell/pack failures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend corrective actions and process improvements.

Lab & Equipment Management

  • Operate and maintain battery cyclers, environmental chambers, and abuse testing setups.
  • Monitor calibration and ensure accuracy/reliability of all testing equipment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with battery testing (HPPC, ACIR/DCIR, cycle life, abuse, and pack testing).
  • Strong understanding of Li-ion cell chemistries (NMC, LFP, LCO, NCA, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Python, Excel, and data visualization/statistical tools.
  • Familiarity with international battery testing standards (UL, ISO, IEC, automotive).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Prior lab testing experience in batteries, fuel cells, or electrochemical devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in battery pack testing and BMS validation.
  • Exposure to thermal management and abuse testing methods (e.g., overcharge, nail penetration, crush).
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for high-voltage battery systems.
