Primary Job Title (standardized): Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon

Location & Workplace: On-site — Sangli, Maharashtra, India.

• Perform elective and emergency laparoscopic and minimally invasive general surgical procedures with high standards of clinical safety and adherence to OT protocols.
• Run outpatient clinics, assess surgical candidates, plan perioperative care, and lead pre-op and post-op patient counselling.
• Provide on-call emergency surgical coverage, triage acute cases, and perform trauma/urgent laparoscopic interventions as required.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and theatre staff; promote best practices in asepsis, instrument handling, and MIS techniques.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, clinical audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with anaesthesia, nursing, and allied specialties to optimise patient pathways and reduce length-of-stay and complications.

Must-Have

• MBBS with MS (General Surgery) or DNB (General Surgery); valid NMC/State medical council registration.
• Minimum 3 years post-qualification clinical experience with demonstrable hands-on laparoscopic surgery experience.
• Proven competency in core laparoscopic procedures (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair; ability to manage basic colorectal and upper-GI laparoscopic cases).
• Strong perioperative judgement, ability to manage complications, and comfort with emergency on-call responsibilities.

Preferred

• Fellowship or formal training in Minimal Access Surgery (MIS) / Laparoscopic Surgery or equivalent certified courses.
• Experience in teaching/resident training, quality accreditation processes (NABH familiarity), or exposure to advanced MIS techniques (lap colorectal, bariatric, or robotic-assisted procedures).
