Foundry Engineer

Job Title: Foundry In-Charge / Foundry Engineer

Location: Jalandhar / Punjab

Industry: Auto-components (Commercial Vehicle Suspension & Castings)

Employment Type: Full-time

Reporting To: Managing Director

Key Responsibilities:

Manage end-to-end foundry operations: melting, pouring, sand & core, fettling, finishing for SG-Iron (600/7 grade) and steel castings.

Ensure metallurgical and mechanical quality (chemical analysis, microstructure, hardness, tensile, impact etc).

Implement process controls: charge calculation, inoculation/nodularisation (for SG Iron), gating & risering, defect elimination (porosity, shrink, inclusion).

Lead and train foundry team: furnace operators, moulders, lab technicians, fettling staff.

Maintain lab & inspection protocols, heat records, SPC charts, rejects trending.

Drive continuous improvement in yield, quality, cost, delivery performance and safety.

Required Skills & Experience:

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Metallurgy / Foundry Technology / Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum ~8-15 years foundry experience (preferably SG Iron + steel castings).

Hands-on with induction furnace operations, melt treatment, SG Iron nodularisation & steel casting metallurgy.

Proficient in lab tests (chemical, mechanical, microstructure) and NDT methods (UT/MPI/Radiography) desirable.

Strong leadership, analytical & problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with foundry equipment, sand systems, moulding, pattern/core making.

Preferred:

Experience in automotive-grade castings.

Experience reducing defects and improving standardisation in foundry.

Knowledge of ISO / IATF quality systems.
