We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Storage Object Engineering Lead/ Associate Director, Software Engineering

In this role, you will:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Object Storage Engineering team responsible for building, automating, and evolving HSBC's enterprise-scale object and archive storage platforms.
  • Set the technical direction and delivery roadmap, working closely with product owners and senior stakeholders in CTO and application teams.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of automation pipelines (e.g. Ansible, CI/CD), observability frameworks, and production-grade engineering solutions.
  • Drive innovation and evaluate emerging storage technologies to enhance platform performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Ensure engineering standards, documentation, and onboarding processes are in place and continuously improved.
  • Manage capacity planning, compliance, risks, and financial control across global deployments.
  • Guide and mentor team members, fostering a culture of learning, ownership, and cross-regional collaboration.
  • Act as a senior representative of Object Storage within HSBC's Storage Platform, supporting platform strategy and transformation initiatives.

Qualifications – External

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or demonstrable experience) in Information Technology.
  • 12+ Years minimum experience in IT including 5+ years in a team leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven leadership experience managing global infrastructure engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale object storage solutions.
  • Deep expertise in platforms such as Dell EMC ECS, NetApp StorageGRID, Veritas Enterprise Vault, OpenText InfoArchive, VAST, or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with automation (e.g. Ansible, Python), observability (e.g. Splunk), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Azure, and hybrid storage architectures is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Agile practices, risk & compliance, and change management in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence, foster inclusive team culture, and drive continuous improvement.
