• Company will cover expenses during this periodSubsequent Location : BangaloreOverview :We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Migration Specialist to join our team.

This role focuses on managing and executing complex database migrations, specifically Oracle-based migrations across different platforms. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Oracle database migration techniques, tools like Oracle GoldenGate, RMAN, Data Pump, and cross-platform migration strategies. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth, near-zero downtime database migrations, with expertise in migrating databases between Oracle and non-Oracle platforms like SQL Server and PostgreSQL.Key Responsibilities :Oracle Database Migration :

• Lead and manage cross-platform database migrations including Unix to Linux, Linux to Unix, and Linux to Linux.
• Perform Oracle-to-Oracle migrations using RMAN, Data Pump, and GoldenGate, ensuring minimal or no downtime.
• Oversee Oracle-to-SQL Server and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations, ensuring proper data integrity and performance post-migration.

Migration Planning & Execution :

• Plan and architect migration strategies, working closely with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met and minimize risk.
• Define and implement rollback strategies for migration, ensuring database availability and minimal disruption.
• Coordinate and execute migrations, including pre-migration health checks, data validation, and post-migration optimizations.

Database Optimization Post-Migration :

• Perform database performance tuning and optimization post-migration to ensure optimal database performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues arising after the migration to ensure smooth operations in production environments.

Automation & Scripting :

• Develop scripts to automate migration processes, data transfers, and other associated tasks to reduce downtime and manual intervention.
• Automate tasks such as backup, restore, and verification as part of the migration process using scripting languages (Shell, Python, Perl).

Cross-Platform Migration Expertise :

• Provide expertise in migrating Oracle databases to non-Oracle platforms like SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Ensure compatibility of schema, data, and stored procedures when migrating between Oracle and non-Oracle platforms.

Documentation & Reporting :

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the migration process, including steps taken, issues encountered, and solutions implemented.
• Provide clear and concise reporting on migration progress, timelines, and any risks or roadblocks.

Collaboration :

• Work closely with infrastructure, application teams, and project managers to ensure that migration goals are aligned with business objectives.
• Support the sales team with migration-related queries and help design solutions for client proposals.

Required Skills And Experience :Oracle Database Migration Expertise :

• Proven experience in cross-platform database migration, especially Oracle to Oracle, Oracle to SQL Server, and Oracle to PostgreSQL.
• Deep expertise with Oracle tools for migration such as RMAN, Data Pump, and Oracle GoldenGate.

Advanced Database Tools :

• Experience in using Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication during migrations.
• Knowledge of database optimization and tuning after migration to ensure long-term Understanding :
• Experience migrating databases between different operating systems like Unix to Linux, Linux to Unix, and Linux to Linux.
• Hands-on experience with non-Oracle database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and their migration strategies.

Scripting & Automation :

• Strong skills in scripting (Shell, Python, Perl) to automate various migration-related tasks.
• Ability to design and execute scripts for backup, restore, validation, and optimization during the migration.

Problem Solving & Troubleshooting :

• Expertise in troubleshooting complex database migration issues, ensuring data integrity and performance.

Desired Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) certification is preferred.
• Experience in large-scale database migrations across diverse platforms.
