Job Description – Kubernetes Administrator / Platform Engineer

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled
Kubernetes Administrator / Platform Engineer
to join our team in Hyderabad. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in managing Kubernetes clusters, containerized application deployments, and troubleshooting complex issues at both the cluster and application levels. This role will involve working closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring smooth operations of Kubernetes-based environments and driving automation in deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cluster Administration:
• Manage, monitor, and maintain Kubernetes clusters at an admin level.
• Perform upgrades, scaling, and configuration management of clusters.
• Containerized Applications:
• Deploy, troubleshoot, and optimize containerized applications across different environments.
• Identify and resolve errors at both the
  cluster
  and
  application pod
  levels.
• Helm Management:
• Create, manage, and troubleshoot Helm charts for application deployments.
• Optimize Helm usage for repeatable and reliable deployments.
• CI/CD & Pipelines:
• Implement and support pipelines for automated deployments.
• Work with DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration with Kubernetes environments.
• Service Mesh (Nice-to-have):
• Exposure to Istio (traditional and ambient mesh) for traffic management, observability, and security.
• Ingress & Gateways:
• Configure and manage
  Kubernetes Gateway APIs
  ,
  Nginx
  ,
  Istio Ingress
  , and
  HAProxy-based ingress controllers
  .
• KNative (Nice-to-have):
• Exposure to KNative for serverless workloads running on Kubernetes.
• Security & Access Controls:
• Define and manage
  RBAC policies, roles, and permissions
  for different teams and users.
• Implement best practices for Kubernetes security.
• Collaboration & Support:
• Partner with internal customers, application developers, and external vendors to resolve technical challenges.
• Provide guidance and knowledge-sharing sessions to teams for effective Kubernetes usage.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in
  Kubernetes administration and containerized environments
  .
• Strong knowledge of
  Helm
  for managing Kubernetes applications.
• Proficiency in
  deployment pipelines (CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD)
  .
• Troubleshooting expertise at
  cluster and pod levels
  .
• Practical experience with
  Ingress Controllers and Gateway APIs
  .
• Understanding of
  RBAC policies, roles, and Kubernetes security best practices
  .
• Excellent
  problem-solving skills
  and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong
  communication and collaboration skills
  with stakeholders at various levels.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Exposure to
  Service Mesh technologies
  (Istio – traditional and ambient mesh).
• Experience with
  KNative
  for serverless workload management.
• Familiarity with advanced observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
