Senior Software Engineer II

Provide technical expertise in building architecture, design and engineering database solutions using modernization technology stacks.

Functions may include database architecture, engineering, design, optimization, security, and administration; as well as data modelling, data warehouse development, Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL / ELT) development, storage engineering, data warehousing, data provisioning and other similar roles. Responsibilities may include Platform-as-a-Service and Cloud solution with a focus on data stores and associated eco systems. Duties may include management of design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance.

Primary Responsibilities:

• All aspects of database administration including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, backup and recovery
• Linux System Administration
• Develop/implement Linux tooling - Linux utility suite, shell, Python, etc.
• Change management including maintenance of multiple development, test, QA, and production environments. Responsible for deploying approved changes to production
• 247 rotational on-call support, including driving Root Cause Analysis (RCA), preventative action follow-through, and participation in weekly operations reviews
• Proactive database monitoring and issue resolution
• Database and PL/SQL optimization including performance tuning, query optimization and supportability; experience with Oracle 19c
• Actively participate and contribute to projects involving enterprise systems enhancements
• Participate in project design and Oracle database design decisions. Refine and troubleshoot the design
• Create and maintain appropriate documentation about the database and the data architecture
• Regular proactive capacity planning and tending reviews of all oracle databases. Producing weekly, monthly management reports
• Project Estimation process - including attending project kick-offs and design reviews as necessary to appropriately size new environments, recommend infrastructure solutions and deliver associated cost and resource effort estimates
• Develop and implement Database security policies and procedures, in line with corporate objectives
• Develop database pipelines to automate processes
• Develop Terraform infrastructure as code to speed the delivery of services

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, or proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator
• 7+ years experience with Oracle products and automating services
• SQL Tuning Experience
• Database design, SQL, and stored procedure development experience
• Proven experience participating in team software development projectsExperience with Goldengate PaaS and automating Goldengate services
• Extensive experience with GoldenGate
• Experience building pipelines to support database automation
• Proficiency with network troubleshooting tools and techniques
• Proven analytical and communication skills
• Ability to build infrastructure as code leveraging tools like Terraform

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, or proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator
• SQL Tuning Experience

• Experience with AI tools to help speed delivery
