Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
To lead Mechanical and Functional testing and analysis of powertrain aggregates and components for automotive, Farm and Truck application and nurture/motivate a team of analysts for the same.

2) To enable developing test methods, DVPs, problem solving techniques and analytical tools for Failure mode analysis (8D) and solutions for solving first time right for meeting the functional and quality targets of the Powertrain for M and M products and align with delivery of business projects. Meet the R/1000 MIS targets defined for PT

3) Monitor accuracy and timeliness of functional and durability tests so that quality and customer related failures are replicated correctly by ensuring front-loading of design and learnings inputs, comprehensive benchmarking and conducting periodic reviews with concerned teams (Design teams of Engine/Clutch/Transmission/Vehicle).

4) Monitor latest developments in the field of Mechanical Development activities with consultants and incorporate them in functional and accelerated durability testing by focusing on capability development on customer usage conditions to lab.

5) Benchmark competitor engines/components and other systems to understand the potential improvements of such technologies and draft plan for incorporation in M and M PT products

6) Test bench mark PTs as part of target setting exercise and identify shortcomings in M and M prototypes and collaborate with Calibration/Design teams to alleviate the issues.

7) Plan department budget by constantly exploring new opportunities with regards to alternative test equipment/methodology and simulation software

8) Ensure timely cataloguing of new ideas via papers/patents to create an atmosphere of innovation by disseminating knowledge through paper presentations in conferences/symposia

9) Interactions with Plant quality and suppliers for improvingproduct,quality both in completion of supplier DVPS, process improvements and ensuring product quality targets are defined and met consistently
