Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Managed Services Hosted Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing complex database environments in hosted or cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, replication integrity, and operational excellence for our enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain relational databases across cloud and hosted environments
- Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot real-time data replication across multiple environments
- Manage and optimize OLTP and OLAP workloads to support transactional systems and analytical/reporting use cases
- Develop and maintain high-performance ETL pipelines and support reporting systems
- Monitor database performance and fine-tune queries, schema, and configurations to meet SLAs
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery
- Support seamless database upgrades and versioning processes using tools like Liquibase
- Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting and automation frameworks
- Deploy and manage databases in Kubernetes (K8s), virtual machines (VMs), AWS cloud, and OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
- Ensure database environments meet security, compliance, and access control standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, DevOps, and application teams
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation for production incidents
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Oracle Database administration
- Oracle GoldenGate replication
- MariaDB administration
- Cassandra administration
- Redis DB administration
- Proven expertise in:
- OLTP and OLAP database architecture
- High-performance ETL and reporting solutions
- Experience with database versioning and seamless upgrade workflows, especially using Liquibase
- Proficient in Linux/Unix administration and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Experience deploying databases on:
- Kubernetes (K8s)
- Virtual Machines (VMs)
- AWS (RDS, EC2, etc.)
- OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
- Familiarity with automation/configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
- Strong understanding of database backup, recovery, and HA strategies
- Experience working in cloud or hybrid infrastructure with production SLAs
- Good understanding of security best practices, user access controls, and compliance standards
Preferred Skills:
- Oracle RAC and MariaDB clustering experience
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Prometheus, Nagios)
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP especially database or DevOps-focused)
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD integration for database change management
- Strong communication skills and ability to document technical procedures clearly
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of professional experience as a DBA in managed services or hosted operations
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced 24x7 operational environment with rotating on-call support
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work during maintenance windows
- Collaborative, cross-functional team environment
