Assistant Manager

Roles & responsibilities:
- Perform tax-related tasks involving tax compliance to a variety of clients including partnerships and corporations
- Participate in tax compliance and provision assistance engagements, identification and analysis of tax technical issues and interaction with additional service lines, including State and Local Tax and International Tax for multinational and domestic entities in a wide variety of industries
- Ability to handle multiple engagements, manage teams, review work prepared and provide guidance and training to associates on engagement work performed
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for delivering high quality tax compliance service
- Keep up to date on current tax practices, new technologies and tools used in client service delivery and participate in technology or process development initiatives, including bot development and use of Alteryx and other data enablement tools
Experience & Qualifications:
- •Bachelor's Degree in accounting or MBA finance from reputable universities with excellent academic result, majoring in Accounting, Taxation or Finance. Preferred EA/CPA certification.
- •3-4 years of recent tax compliance experience in an accounting firm, corporation, and/or law firm
- •Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills and experience with MS Office applications and third-party tax reporting software programs
- •Excellent communication and time management skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high quality work
- •Ability to handle multiple engagements concurrently, prioritize competing tasks; demonstrate attention to project details, timelines and work ethic to accomplish project assignments.
Tasks and skills:
- •Advanced proficiency in BTE and/or AMP (1065 and other modules)
- •Ability to facilitate and review the optimization and standardization of BTE or AMP, including complex entity structures
- •Advanced proficiency in GoRS and/or OIT
- •Advanced proficiency in tax technology tools (tax compliance Bots, automation tools, Alteryx)
- •Advanced understanding of firm's Technology and processes around tax compliance and research
- •Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel required. Familiarity with Alteryx, PowerPoint, Visio or process mapping software desired
- Demonstrates the ability to lead a team of individuals to complete a project
- Ability to process and review manual/hybrid and book/tax differences using tax technical analysis provided
- Ability to review intermediate/complex single entity and consolidated/combined federal, state and international tax returns, utilizing tax software, tools and provided inputs of complex items
- Ability to process and review intermediate/ complex non-US tax return data used to complete international tax forms.
- Ability to perform effective self-review / review of the Associate / Senior associate work to produce a quality work product with minimal errors.
- Capability to assist with complex quantitative analyses and to independently produce less complicated analyses
- Demonstrates application of research, critical thinking and analytical skills to identify issues, perform complex calculations, develop conclusions and articulate issues of moderate complexity
- Advanced tax technical, tax compliance knowledge and technology skills in 1-2 focus areas such as Partnerships, Corporate, State or International.
- Knowledge of a broad range of taxation technical topics and entity types, including corporate, consolidations, partnerships and ASC 740

- Excellent verbal and written communication with internal clients, research, advisory and tax compliance skills with the ability to articulate complex information

- Participates in teaching local or firmwide training
- Demonstrates the ability to provide guidance or supervise Associates and effectively manage client expectations
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and client service teams concurrently, prioritize competing tasks and communicate to resolve project issues timely with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates the ability to manage client relationships, interface with clients and effectively communicate tax matters to the clients in a comprehensive manner
- Serves as a mentor to new Associates
- Demonstrates the ability to develop technical skills of Associates
- Actively involved in external recruiting (campus or experienced hire)
- Understanding and achievement of key metrics (utilization, quality and other as applicable), ability to assist other team members to identify ways to help them meet their metrics.
- Completes Goal Setting, Mid-Year Reviews and Year-End Reviews on a timely basis. Provides engagement and performance development feedback to junior team members on a timely basis.
