Job Summary:

A Power BI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. This role involves transforming raw data into meaningful insights through interactive dashboards and reports that support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Visualization & Reporting:
  • Design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Create custom visualizations and implement row-level security.
  • Ensure reports are visually appealing, insightful, and user-friendly.
  • Data Modeling & ETL:
  • Build and optimize data models using Power BI Desktop.
  • Develop tabular and multidimensional models compatible with data warehouse standards.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from various sources.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work closely with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to gather requirements.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications.
  • Provide training and support to end-users.
  • System Integration & Maintenance:
  • Integrate Power BI reports into other applications (e.g., SharePoint, Teams).
  • Maintain and support BI platforms and troubleshoot performance issues.
  • Document processes, methodologies, and data flows.
  • Data Governance & Security:
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  • Implement access controls and data protection measures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and SQL.
  • Experience with data warehousing, OLAP cubes, and ETL tools.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, SSIS, Azure Data Services).
  • Analytical & Communication Skills:
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in BI development or data analysis roles.
  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., Data Analyst Associate) are a plus.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
