Consultant pathologist - JD

The major Responsibilities and Authorities include:

1.     Responsible to relate and function effectively with applicable accrediting (ISO 15189: 2012) and regulatory agencies, appropriate administrative officials, healthcare community, patient population served, providers of formal agreements and the service provided whenever required.

2.     Has the responsibility to ensure appropriate numbers of staff with the required education, training and competence are available at all times that meet the needs and requirements of the users and International standards

3.     Responsible for the provision of clinical advice, professional, scientific, consultative or advisory with respect to the choice of examinations.

4.     Has the responsibility and authority to delegate / evaluate, select, periodical rating of laboratory suppliers, referral laboratories, service providers and monitoring the quality of their service.

5.     Has the responsibility of presenting Management review meetings, risk assessment, root cause analysis, corrective action, preventive action and monitoring incident and accident management process.

6.     Has the responsibility of monitoring the laboratory staff adhering to the laboratory safety, personnel safety, Environmental and health safety policy and procedure of the organization.

7.     Review and approval of General procedures, Technical procedures and SOP for the smooth running of the laboratory.

8.     Review and approval of internal quality control values, EQAS samples, ILC samples and relevant Quality records.

9.     Identifying training needs for personnel reporting to him/her, organizing and ensuring training is provided and ensure the competency level of the employees as per the requisite.

10.  Ensuring timely completion of all lab investigation and furnishing authentic reports to the patients.

11.  Approval of final test reports.

12.  Maintaining strict control on Bio medical waste disposal in the laboratory.

13.  Assigning responsibility and authority for all personnel specified in the organization chart.

14.  Authorizing Corrective action proposals for audit findings.

15.  Address any complaint, request or suggestion from staff and/or users of laboratory services.

16.  Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of standards of CAP with delegated duties being properly performed.

17.  To ensure that a through interim self-inspection is performed and all deficiencies are corrected in timely manner.

18.  Shall ensure that proficiency testing, alternative assessment and QC procedures are executed as per the requirements.

19.  To review Competency assessment data of Lab employees.

20.  Ensures that the performance Specifications for new method validation and verifications for tests, instruments & methods are verified prior to begin the patient testing.

21.  To ensure that there is an effective communication mechanism between the laboratory director and medical staff, laboratory management, and staff, including maintenance of records of the communications.

22.  To ensure communication of laboratory data and appropriate result reporting.

23.  To plan, set goals, develop and allocate resources appropriate to the safe laboratory environment in compliance with good practice and applicable regulations.

24.  To ensure provision of educational programs, strategic planning, and research and professional development program appropriate to the needs of the laboratory and institution.

25.  Ensures that the performance Specifications for new method validation and verifications for tests, instruments & methods are verified prior to begin the patient testing.

26.  The laboratory director or designee must interact with agencies such as national, state and local health departments, as appropriate, for laboratory-related matters.

27.  To handle and monitor the purchase team for ensuring smooth operations in procurement of laboratory equipment, supplies and services with respect to quality as and when required.

28.  In absence of Consultant Pathologist, lab Manager to take care of the responsibilities for smooth functioning of the lab.

29.  To be accessible to provide consultation to resolve technical problems.

30.  Any other work assigned by the superior from time to time
