Reports To: Head – Food & Beverage / Pastry Chef
Position SummaryThe Chef de Partie (Bakery & Confectionery) will be responsible for producing high-quality breads, pastries, desserts, and confectionery items to serve students, staff, and guests at GSIS. This role requires creativity, precision, and strong technical expertise in bakery and pastry arts, ensuring products are both nutritious and appealing.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and bake breads, cakes, pastries, cookies, and confectionery items to high standards of quality and presentation.
- Assist in developing bakery and dessert menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and nutritional requirements.
- Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all bakery products.
- Monitor daily production schedules and manage workflow efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, sanitation, and food safety in the bakery section.
- Control wastage by effective storage, portioning, and usage of ingredients.
- Train, supervise, and guide commis chefs or kitchen assistants assigned to the bakery section.
- Support large-scale catering needs during school events, celebrations, and functions.
- Collaborate with the wider F&B team to maintain GSIS culinary standards.
- Diploma/Certification in Bakery & Confectionery, Pastry Arts, or Hotel Management.
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in bakery/pastry, preferably in hotels, institutions, or resorts.
- Strong expertise in artisan breads, desserts, pastries, and modern confectionery techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (HACCP preferred).
- Creativity and ability to innovate with recipes and presentations.
- Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Full-time residential position.
- Accommodation and food will be provided within the GSIS campus as per school policy.
- Work schedule includes weekends, school events, and special occasions as required.
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
