What you'll do

 
• Consult development and product teams on product security functionalities, standards, and S2DL process requirements; translate business and legal/privacy requirements into actionable technical controls and developer guidance.

• Analyze and design end-to-end security architecture for new and existing products/components, review security requirements and designs for compliance and risk reduction.

• Execute secure SDLC activities: threat modeling, secure requirements/design review, secure code review, dynamic/manual testing, penetration testing, and security validation.

• Identify, assess, and address threats and vulnerabilities; evaluate cross-application risks; review impact to shipped releases and coordinate remediation and patching.

• Implement, integrate, and operate security tooling (e.g., code scanning, open-source vulnerability management, secrets detection); automate key checkpoints and guardrails in CI/CD.

• Support compliance and privacy activities: conduct assessments, implement data protection controls, and validate adherence to product standards and regulatory requirements.

• Develop and maintain security processes, documentation, playbooks, and workflows that enable developers to build secure code and consistently follow standards.

• Act as a liaison between development and security; manage security sub-projects/program activities to ensure timely, quality delivery and clear status reporting.

• Research emerging security risks and technologies; recommend improvements and drive security enhancement projects across application areas.

• Contribute to security operations and incident response within scope; perform vulnerability lifecycle management and coordinate with stakeholders to close findings.

• Mentor junior team members and deliver trainings/learning content to foster a strong security mindset and culture. 

What you'll bring

 
• Bachelors's degree in Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines with a specialization in security

• 5-7 years of programming and application development experience.

• At least 1.5 years' experience in security engineering

• Secure programming practices and familiarity with product security standards and S2DL processes.

• Strong grasp of threat modeling, common application security risks (e.g., OWASP), and vulnerability management.

• Ability to translate legal/privacy requirements into clear developer-oriented guidance and practical examples.

• Proficiency with security tools and procedures (e.g., code scanning, OSS vulnerability management) and integrating them into development pipelines.

• Pragmatic, goal-oriented approach; strong prioritization; ability to manage multiple incoming tasks.

• You're an open-minded team player

• Fluent spoken and written English communication skills

• Programming skills in at least one programming language

Private Cloud is responsible for developing a portfolio of application products, including SAP S/4HANA, while providing sustenance and engineering services for a broader range of solutions. This team possesses deep product and market expertise in the Private Cloud and the RISE with SAP journey. It plays a key role in transitioning our most valued installed-base customers to the SAP Business Suite while driving the adoption of innovations such as AI.

Private Cloud Sustenance & Engineering Office (SEO) Cross Function Services supports Private Cloud teams with services, governance & projects. Private Cloud, Strategy & Execution is a central team for all cross-divisional topics, one of these is the Product Security program:

• Supports development teams with product security consulting & guidance for questions about product security standards and process standards like S2DL

 
• Coordinates for SAP Business Suite all product security improvement projects relevant across application areas

• Provides research and risk assessments for potential new vulnerability types

• Aligns product security activities with other units in Development, Consulting and Support
