Job Title: Resident Hardware Engineer
Location: Customer Site – Bangalore, India
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Reporting To: Project Manager / Service Delivery Manager
Position Overview
The Resident Hardware Engineer will be responsible for on-site hardware maintenance, support, and first-level (L1) troubleshooting of enterprise IT infrastructure at the customer's premises. This includes monitoring and maintaining servers, storage systems, and networking hardware to ensure high availability and performance. The engineer will act as the first point of contact for any hardware-related incidents, coordinate with the HPE support team for escalations, and execute preventive and corrective maintenance within defined SLAs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform L1 hardware maintenance and administration for servers, storage, and related infrastructure equipment.
Monitor system hardware health, component status, and alerts to ensure continuous operations.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues such as disk failures, memory errors, power supply faults, and connectivity problems.
Log incidents and raise support tickets with HPE or other OEMs for parts replacement and higher-level troubleshooting.
Coordinate with vendor engineers during field replacements, repairs, and escalated support cases.
Conduct regular preventive maintenance activities—cleaning, inspection, firmware validation, and component testing.
Assist in firmware and BIOS upgrades, and perform post-upgrade verification in collaboration with the HPE team.
Maintain accurate hardware inventory records, incident logs, and maintenance reports.
Ensure compliance with SLAs by prioritizing timely resolution of critical hardware faults.
Support hardware refresh, installation, or decommissioning projects when assigned.
Proactively identify performance or reliability issues and recommend preventive actions.
Prepare periodic review reports highlighting uptime metrics, hardware health, and maintenance status.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor's or Diploma in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in hardware support, field service, or data-center maintenance.
Technical Skills:
Solid understanding of server, storage, and network hardware architectures.
Experience with HPE ProLiant / Synergy / Blade servers or similar OEM systems.
Familiarity with hardware monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., HPE OneView, iLO, Insight Manager).
Working knowledge of firmware management and system updates.
Basic understanding of operating systems and hardware-OS interaction for verification purposes.
Experience using ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, HP SIM) and hardware inventory tracking.
Certifications (Preferred): HPE ATP/ASE, CompTIA Server+, or equivalent.
Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service orientation.
