Job Title: Senior Perl Developer

Experience: 6+ Years

Location: Remote

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Perl Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing backend systems and automation scripts. The ideal candidate must have strong Perl programming expertise, solid knowledge of system architecture, and the ability to work on large-scale, performance-heavy applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Perl-based applications, scripts, and automation tools.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize existing Perl codebases for performance and scalability.
  • Integrate Perl applications with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.) and external APIs.
  • Develop and maintain batch jobs, cron jobs, and backend services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and other developers to deliver robust solutions.
  • Build and maintain RESTful services, data processing tools, or ETL workflows (as needed).
  • Implement secure coding practices, error handling, and logging frameworks.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural planning.
  • Ensure smooth deployment, monitoring, and support for production applications.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in Perl development.
  • Strong expertise in Perl scripting, object-oriented Perl, and CPAN modules.
  • Experience with regular expressions, text processing, and automation scripts.
  • Good understanding of Unix/Linux systems, shell scripting, and system commands.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and SQL queries.
  • Experience with web technologies like CGI, mod_perl, or PSGI/Plack.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, XML, and data formats.
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work in an agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on high-performance or large-scale systems.
  • Knowledge of Python, Shell scripting, or other programming languages is a plus.
  • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, microservices, or DevOps practices.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: ₹80, ₹90,000.00 per month
