Key responsibilities Counseling and guidance: Provide confidential individual and group counseling sessions to address academic, career, and personal development needs. Intervention and support: Develop and implement intervention plans, provide crisis intervention, and offer support for issues like stress and anxiety. Collaboration: Work with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student needs and implement accommodations, as well as mediate conflicts. Workshops and presentations: Organize and facilitate workshops and informational sessions on various topics relevant to student success and well-being. Record keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of counseling sessions, student progress, and parent meetings. Career and college advising: Assist students with career exploration, college applications, and understanding financial aid options. Program development: May assist in developing and implementing programs, such as drug and alcohol prevention strategies. Qualifications and skills Education: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is often required. Experience: Experience in an educational setting or similar role is generally necessary. Licensure: May require professional licensure as a counselor. Interpersonal skills: Strong communication, active listening, and empathy are crucial. Problem-solving skills: Ability to mediate conflicts and develop solutions. Professionalism: Maintain ethical standards and a non-judgmental approach.
