Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Lawyer to lead and support legal and policy efforts focused on police reform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil rights law, public policy, or criminal justice, with a commitment to driving systemic change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on constitutional policing, use of force, racial profiling, surveillance, and related issues
  • Draft legal memoranda, policy reports, public testimony, and proposed legislation
  • Develop and support impact litigation and administrative advocacy efforts
  • Collaborate with community organizations, coalitions, and policymakers to advance reforms
  • Monitor and analyze legislation, police practices, and case law at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Engage in public education efforts, including writing op-eds, speaking at forums, and training stakeholders

Qualifications

  • LLB
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience working on policing, public safety, or criminal justice reform issues
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial and social justice
  • Ability to work independently and in diverse teams

Preferred Skills

  • Litigation experience (civil rights, constitutional, or class action)
  • Legislative drafting or advocacy experience
  • Familiarity with data transparency, police oversight models, or consent decrees
