Role Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Biomedical Engineer with 3–4 years of experience to join the Biomedical Engineering team. You will be responsible for the operational maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and lifecycle management of medical equipment across clinical departments, ensuring high availability and safety of devices for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, validation and verification of medical devices (e.g., diagnostic imaging, monitoring, therapeutic & critical care equipment)
- Troubleshoot, repair and coordinate servicing (in‑house or vendor) of equipment to minimise downtime
- Maintain accurate asset records, service logs, equipment history and spare parts inventory
- Work closely with clinical teams (nursing, critical care, OT, imaging) to understand equipment requirements, priorities & downtime impacts
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols and hospital policies (e.g., equipment safety, electrical safety, infection control)
- Assist in procurement, installation, commissioning and acceptance testing of new equipment
- Provide technical training/support to users (clinicians, nurses, technicians) on correct operation, safety and basic maintenance
- Participate in equipment budgeting, lifecycle planning and replacement forecasts
- Monitor and report equipment performance metrics (uptime, breakdown frequency, cost of maintenance) and propose improvements
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3 to 4 years of experience in hospital or clinical biomedical engineering environment
- Good knowledge of medical equipment types, their functions, troubleshooting & maintenance
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Excellent communication skills (English + Tamil preferred) and ability to train users
- Willingness to work in a hospital setting, occasionally outside normal hours for critical equipment support
