Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Certification:ICN (Infection Control) certification is required.
- Clinical Skills:Strong clinical knowledge of patient care, treatments, and various nursing procedures.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking:Ability to analyze complex data, interpret findings, and make evidence-based decisions.
- Communication:Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for educating staff, writing reports, and collaborating with teams.
- Teamwork & Leadership:Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and provide mentorship.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in using technology and computer systems to manage data and maintain records.
- Implements and enforces hospital and unit-level infection control policies and procedures.
- Oversees proper use of aseptic techniques, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensures clean and safe environments within the hospital.
- Supervises equipment maintenance and proper handling.
- Surveillance & Data Management:
- Conducts surveillance and collects data on hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).
- Analyzes and interprets infection data to identify trends, outbreaks, and risk factors.
- Reports findings and recommends evidence-based interventions to prevent future infections.
- Education & Consultation:
- Acts as a resource and educator for hospital staff on infection control principles, policies, and emerging issues.
- Develops and implements educational programs for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Outbreak Response
- Participates in investigations and response efforts during suspected or confirmed infection outbreaks.
- Assists in developing and implementing action plans to contain and manage outbreaks.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Collaborates with physicians, microbiologists, hospital administration, and other healthcare professionals.
- Works with public health agencies and government bodies to ensure compliance and support community-wide health initiatives.
