Software Security Engineer (CVE Remediation & Patch Management)

Location:

Remote / Offshore (India preferred)

Duration:

3-Month Contract (with possible extension)

Overview:

San Data Systems, is seeking skilled engineers to assist in a large-scale CVE remediation and patch management initiative across machine learning and AI software stacks. Contractors will work closely with the core DevOps and security teams to identify, prioritize, and remediate vulnerabilities in enterprise software and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Run and maintain vulnerability scans using cybersecurity tools and open-source scanners (Trivy, Clair, etc.).
  • Review CVE feeds and determine applicability based on deployed components.
  • Prioritize vulnerabilities by CVSS score, exploitability, and impact.
  • Apply OSS or vendor patches; rebuild, test, and deploy fixed components.
  • Conduct regression and validation testing post-remediation.
  • Maintain detailed CVE tracking logs, documentation, and reports.
  • Work with internal teams to verify application stability and compliance after fixes.
  • Provide weekly progress and status reports.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in DevOps, software engineering, or cybersecurity.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CICD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Linux OS patching, Python/Go/Java-based dependency updates, and OpenSSL, Log4j, Apache, or similar libraries.
  • Knowledge of CVE scoring systems (CVSS) and vulnerability lifecycle management.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.

  • Trivy, Clair, Grype, Anchore, HPE Cybersecurity CVE Tools
  • GitHub / Jenkins / ArgoCD / Kubernetes
  • Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, MinIO, Hive, Spark
  • Jira, Confluence, Excel-based CVE trackers

Deliverables:

  • Weekly reports of fixed and open CVEs.
  • Evidence of patch validation and test results.
  • Updated software inventory and dependency matrices.
