Role Overview

We are seeking a freelance
Cleantech & Sustainable Energy Content Writer
to collaborate with our team on a project basis. The ideal candidate combines in-depth knowledge of clean technology, renewable energy, and sustainability with the ability to distill complex information into compelling narratives tailored for diverse audiences, ranging from investors and enterprises to the broader public.

This is a flexible, remote freelance role where assignments will vary based on client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research cleantech, renewable energy, and sustainability topics to produce accurate, engaging, and well-sourced content.
  • Write and edit content across formats such as:
  • Website copy and landing pages
  • Blogs and thought-leadership articles
  • Case studies and white papers
  • Press releases, newsletters, and media pitches
  • Social media content and campaign messaging
  • Marketing collateral and sales enablement assets
  • Translate technical jargon into accessible, persuasive copy without compromising accuracy.
  • Align content with
    SEO best practices to improve visibility and engagement.
  • Ensure all deliverables are free from greenwashing, factually accurate, and written in a transparent, ethical tone.
  • Collaborate with MDB's content strategists and client stakeholders to align with brand voice and campaign objectives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of experience writing in
    cleantech, renewable energy, sustainability, or environmental technology
    domains.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to handle
    technical + marketing
    content.
  • Excellent research and storytelling skills; capable of turning complex data into digestible narratives.
  • Proficiency in SEO writing techniques and familiarity with digital content trends.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to feedback, and work independently.
  • Familiarity with industry terminology, regulatory context, and sustainability standards is a strong plus.
  • Experience working with agencies or startups is advantageous.
