We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Support Engineer (DSE) to join our Integrated Professional Services (IPS) team. The DSE will be responsible for managing customer support cases, troubleshooting database issues, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. This role involves direct client interaction, collaboration with R&D and Project Management teams, and mentoring new employees or trainees. This is a hybrid role, primarily office-based in Chennai, with flexibility for home-office work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional advice and technical support to clients across multiple database technologies.
  • Manage support cases and ensure adherence to SLA timelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve real-world database issues, ensuring stability and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D and Project Management to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes.
  • Execute service activities including incident management, root cause analysis, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain, create, and update all forms of technical documentation to support internal and client teams.
  • Mentor and guide new employees or trainees to strengthen overall support capabilities.

  • Effective and proactive database support delivery.
  • SLA compliance in ticket resolution, incident handling, and troubleshooting.
  • High levels of team collaboration and client satisfaction.
  • Quality and accuracy of technical documentation.

Required Skills:

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in database support, with strong analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to work in multicultural environments and collaborate across global teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising across different hierarchical levels.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong proficiency in databases and SQL, including SQL scripting.
  • Experience with Data Warehousing (DWH) and Business Intelligence (BI) architecture.
  • Familiarity with database front-end tools, reporting tools, ETL tools, and drivers.
  • Hands-on programming skills in Python, Lua, Java, or R. Exposure to Linux environments and shell scripting.

  • Hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving real database issues.
  • Ability to evaluate data models.
  •  Understanding ETL loading logic (dimension → fact).
  • Translating SQL queries into plain English explanations.
