Staff Applied Scientist

About the Role :

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and experienced Staff Applied Scientist to drive the research, design, and production deployment of our next generation of products powered by Large Language Models (LLMs) and intelligent AI Agents.

This high-impact role requires a deep technical background, hands-on LLM engineering expertise, and the ability to translate complex research into scalable, customer-facing solutions. You will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, guiding both internal engineering efforts and external client engagements.

Key Responsibilities :

- LLM & Agent Engineering : Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated LLM-based production systems, focusing on agentic workflows, orchestration, and tool use.

- Production System Development : Architect, build, and optimize core components such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems for enhanced context and accuracy, ensuring high performance and scalability.

- Technical Leadership : Serve as the top technical authority on LLMs and AI Agents, setting best practices for development, evaluation, and deployment.

- Research to Product : Translate cutting-edge research in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) into practical, deployable product features.

- Client Engagement & Advisory : Leverage your technical expertise in client-facing roles or pre-sales technical advisory to articulate the value proposition of our AI solutions and guide prospective clients on technical integration.

- Collaboration & Communication : Possess exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to present complex ideas and technical roadmaps effectively to both deep technical teams and executive, non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications :

- Advanced Degree : PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or a closely related quantitative field.

- Industry Experience : 7 years of industry experience in AI/ML, with a minimum of 2 years specifically focused on Large Language Models (LLMs) and/or AI Agents.

- Programming & Frameworks : Strong programming skills in Python and deep practical experience with relevant AI/ML frameworks such as LangChain, Hugging Face Transformers, Ray, or similar LLM orchestration tools.

- Production System Expertise : Proven, hands-on experience building and deploying production systems using LLMs, including proficiency with advanced techniques like RAG, agentic workflows, orchestration, and tool use.

- Communication & Influence : Demonstrated success in roles requiring exceptional communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate and present complex technical concepts.

- Business Acumen : Practical experience in client-facing roles or pre-sales technical advisory, translating deep technical knowledge into business value and solution architecture for customers.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience fine-tuning and deploying open-source LLMs.

- Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for deploying scalable AI services.

- Published research in top-tier AI/ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, EMNLP).
