The IS&T (Information Systems and Technology) organization at Apple builds and maintains mission-critical applications and services that support Apple customers, employees, partners, and products worldwide. Our SAP team, part of the global IS&T organization, engineers systems that support customer ordering, fulfillment and service of Apple products. We work with multiple business functions including Retail, Operations, Finance and AppleCare.

Description

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of skilled SAP ABAP engineers, make decisions impacting multi-functional partners and take ownership of team's end-to-end deliverables. You will contribute to code reviews and risk assessments, and represent the team and technology in meetings with functional teams and business units. You will clarify requirements and set objectives for multi-functional software projects. You will also plan a multi-year roadmap, supervise SAP application development, and develop and grow engineers within the team.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of software developers by leading all aspects of project assignments, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
• Conduct performance reviews to provide constructive feedback, recognize achievements, and identify areas for professional development.
• Set clear, achievable goals and expectations for team members to drive result, teamwork and innovation.
• Build and nurture self-sustained, high-performing teams
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, fostering continuous learning and development
• Design, develop, and optimise highly scalable, reliable and secure SAP applications using ECC, S4HANA, BTP/Cloud technologies and micro-services architecture to create robust and resilient solutions.
• A technical leader with hands-on experience in Agile development methodologies with cross-team collaboration to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  Lead proof-of-concept projects and pilot implementations to showcase innovative ideas.

Minimum Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience building and scaling enterprise-grade SAP systems and applications that meet the demands of high-volume environments.
• 4+ years of experience in building, developing, and leading SAP technical teams.
• Understanding of S/4 HANA database tables and data models
• Hands-on programming experience with SAP ABAP RICEFW objects, OData/SOAP web services, HANA stored procedures, AMDP, Restful ABAP programming, side-by-side extensibility and other SAP modern technologies
• Knowledge of SDLC and software craftsmanship with stringent code review process, performance optimization to build resilient, scalable, secure and performant enterprise applications
• Experience with development tools such as SAP ADT (Eclipse IDE), Business Application Studio and Postman
• Understanding of SAP backend integration with SAP BTP using Cloud Connector and/or SAP CPI, Advanced Event Mesh is a plus
• Good exposure to web and cloud technologies and UI development frameworks.
• Strong computer science fundamentals including DSA, Database Systems, Computer Networks, Software Design and Architecture and Software Security.
• Demonstrated proficiency in project management, ensuring timely delivery and extensive experience in Agile development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, negotiation and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment, displaying a results-driven attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with international and cross-cultural teams for seamless project execution.
• Master intricate technical challenges and keep abreast of the latest advancements in new technologies.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Development experience in ABAP Cloud, SAP UI5/Fiori and RAP/CAPM is a plus
• Experience with ABAP Clean Core and Custom Code Migration to Cloud.
• Experience in developing & managing applications for FI or SD domain is a plus.
• Experience / Exposure building solutions using AI/ML technologies.
• A solid grasp of LLMs, Prompt Engineering, and RAG is a plus.
• Exposure to Git, DevOps and CI/CD tools.
• Effectively manage and collaborate with contractors.
• Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as AWS, GCP and others.
  Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent.
