Role Overview:

The Retail Sales Merchandiser cum Demand Planner is responsible for driving sales and inventory efficiency across retail stores by ensuring the right product mix, stock availability, and visual presentation. The role combines field-level retail merchandising with back-end demand planning and data analysis to optimize product performance and meet business targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Retail Merchandising

  • Ensure in-store execution of merchandising plans in alignment with brand guidelines and seasonal themes.
  • Monitor product displays, planograms, and shelf arrangements to maximize visibility and sales conversion.
  • Coordinate with store teams to ensure timely replenishment of stocks and availability of fast-moving SKUs.
  • Conduct regular store visits to assess product performance, visual standards, and competitor activity.
  • Liaise with the marketing team for implementation of in-store promotions and campaigns.
  • Collect customer and market feedback to share insights for assortment optimization.

2. Demand Planning & Forecasting

  • Analyze sales trends, historical data, and market intelligence to forecast product demand across categories.
  • Prepare and update rolling forecasts at SKU/store level ensuring alignment with business sales plans.
  • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for timely ordering and stock replenishment.
  • Monitor inventory health – slow-moving, non-moving, and overstock items – and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track key metrics like sell-through rate, stock turnover, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Support new product launches with demand projections and initial stock allocations.

3. Reporting & Analysis

  • Generate and present weekly/monthly sales and inventory performance reports.
  • Track sales vs. forecast deviations and provide root-cause analysis with improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with the finance and supply chain teams to align planning with budgets and lead times.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with proficiency in Excel and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of retail operations, merchandising standards, and supply chain fundamentals.
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills across departments and store teams.
  • Commercial acumen and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in retail merchandising, demand planning, or sales analysis.
  • Experience in retail categories such as
    sports, fitness, or apparel
    (preferred).
