Pressman Profile – SARCOM (Cable Tray Manufacturing Division)

A Pressman at SARCOM is a skilled technician responsible for operating mechanical press machines to shape sheet metal components with precision. This role is central to producing high-quality cable trays, raceways, earthing strips, and accessories used in electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

  • Set up and operate mechanical press machines for punching, cutting, and forming steel sheets
  • Adjust dies, feed sheets, and calibrate stroke settings as per job requirements
  • Monitor press performance and ensure smooth, consistent output

Technical Interpretation

  • Read and interpret BOQs, blueprints, and technical diagrams
  • Follow dimensional specifications and material thickness guidelines for each produc Quality Control
  • Inspect finished components for burrs, misalignment, and surface defects
  • Ensure all products meet SARCOM's quality benchmarks and client specifications

  • Maintenance & Safety
  • Conduct routine cleaning and lubrication of press components
  • Report mechanical issues and assist in die replacement or minor repairs
  • Follow PPE protocols and maintain a hazard-free work environment

Production Reporting

  • Record daily output, downtime, and material usage
  • Coordinate with supervisors for job scheduling and shift priorities

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or ITI certification in mechanical trades preferred
  • Experience:
  • 1–3 years operating mechanical presses in a sheet metal or fabrication unit
  • Familiarity with cable tray or electrical hardware production is a plus
  • Skills:
  • Knowledge of press machine mechanics and die setting
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring instruments
  • Physical stamina and attention to detail

The person should be well versed with metal press machines. They should have experience with power press machines in the steel-metal industry.
