We are looking for an experienced
Buyer – Mechanical
who can uphold strong procurement practices while supporting our expanding work in infrastructure and renewable energy. This role plays a key part in ensuring material readiness for projects, maintaining supplier relationships, and securing competitive, reliable sourcing for all mechanical packages.

Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Procurement

  • Manage the sourcing and procurement of mechanical equipment, consumables, fabricated items, and project-related services.
  • Develop procurement strategies aimed at cost efficiency, quality enhancement, and long-standing reliability.
  • Review BOQs, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material requirements.
  • Float RFQs, carry out techno-commercial evaluations, and prepare detailed bid comparison sheets.

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Identify, assess, and onboard capable vendors, strengthening the supplier base for mechanical and renewable categories.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery commitments, warranties, and long-term agreements.
  • Monitor vendor performance for quality and delivery adherence.
  • Ensure all procurement activities follow company policies, statutory norms, and contractual expectations.

Project Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering, planning, quality, logistics, and project execution teams to meet project timelines.
  • Resolve specification deviations, delivery delays, and supply-related challenges.
  • Oversee purchase order issuance, tracking, expediting, and on-time material delivery.

Cost & Risk Management

  • Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and forecasting for mechanical and renewable-specific materials such as steel structures, mounting systems, BOP components, and mechanical auxiliaries.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising standards.
  • Monitor supply chain risks, market conditions, and lead-time variations while recommending mitigation plans.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, PO files, vendor records, inspection reports, and compliance documents.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC guidelines, contractual requirements, and HSE standards.
  • Support internal and external procurement audits.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, heavy equipment, EPC materials, and renewable energy components.
  • Hands-on experience in procurement for solar, wind, substation, transmission, or utility-scale mechanical packages.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor development, and contract management capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/SAP procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
  • 7–10 years of procurement experience in infrastructure EPC, renewable energy, or mechanical engineering.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS or ISM will be an added advantage.
