Database Application Engineer

This is a remote position.

Collabrix Inc. is a rapidly growing product company headquartered in Texas, with a remote-first team based in India. We develop SaaS platforms that enable seamless collaboration between pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and their global manufacturing partners. Our mission is to transform life sciences external manufacturing through scalable, secure, and innovative digital products.

We are seeking a Database Application Engineer with approximately 5 years of hands-on experience working with enterprise-grade relational database systems. This role is central to our product engineering team and focuses on building, optimizing, and maintaining the core database components that power Collabrix's SaaS applications.

The ideal candidate should be highly skilled in SQL and PL/SQL, experienced with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle, and comfortable working closely with backend and middleware engineering teams. Experience with Java development is an added advantage.

Candidates should also be comfortable using AI-powered programming tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar assistants) to accelerate development, testing, and documentation.

• Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of database-driven components of Collabrix's SaaS product suite.
  

• Understand, interpret, and refine Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) for application modules.
  

• Develop robust database artifacts including tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
  

• Collaborate closely with backend/middleware engineers to implement efficient data-access layers and support application workflows.
  

• Write and optimize simple to complex SQL queries for application features, reporting, and analytics.
  

• Ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability of database systems.
  

• Troubleshoot production database issues and support performance tuning.
  

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.) to enhance productivity and accuracy.
  

• Participate in code reviews, schema design discussions, and data modeling sessions.
  

• Maintain documentation and ensure best practices for database development.
  

• 5 years of professional experience as a database developer or database application engineer.
  

• Strong hands-on experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  

• Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development.
  

• Strong understanding of ERDs, indexing strategies, query optimization, stored procedures, triggers, and other DB objects.
  

• Experience supporting enterprise-grade, data-intensive applications.
  

• Familiarity with AI-based programming assistants (Claude, Copilot, etc.) and willingness to use them.
  

• Added Plus: Java development experience.
  

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from reputed institutes.
  

• A hands-on database engineer passionate about building reliable, scalable systems.
  

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  

• Ability to collaborate effectively with backend and product engineering teams.
  

• Commitment to clean, well-documented, and maintainable database code.
  

• Curiosity to learn new tools, frameworks, and best practices.
