Key Responsibilities:

1. Raw Material Quality Inspection:

  • Inspect incoming materials (solid wood, plywood, MDF, particleboard, laminates, veneers, adhesives, upholstery materials, fasteners, etc.) for conformance to specifications.
  • Use tools like moisture meters, calipers, and thickness gauges to verify dimensional and material quality.
  • Maintain Material Inspection Reports (MIR) and approve/reject materials with traceability.

2. In-Process Quality Control (IPQC):

  • Conduct stage-wise inspections (cutting, CNC routing, edge-banding, lamination, carcass assembly, sanding, polishing, upholstery, etc.).
  • Verify dimensional accuracy using measuring instruments (tape, scale, try square, vernier caliper).
  • Monitor edge finishing, surface flatness, joint strength, adhesive application, and assembly tolerances.
  • Conduct in-process defect analysis and ensure first-pass yield (FPY) is within defined limits.

3. Final Product Inspection (FQC):

  • Perform final inspection on completed furniture items (wardrobes, beds, chairs, modular units, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with design drawings, BOM, client specifications, ergonomic dimensions, surface finish (PU, melamine, lacquer), hardware installation, and packaging standards.
  • Conduct functionality tests: drawer smoothness, door alignment, load-bearing, stability, upholstery firmness.

4. Process & Quality Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain QC Checklists, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) logs.
  • Maintain calibration logs of inspection tools and ensure tool accuracy.
  • Contribute to internal audits and external certifications (ISO 9001, FSC, etc.).

5. Process Improvement & Root Cause Analysis:

  • Identify quality defects and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using tools like Fishbone Diagram, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis.
  • Coordinate with production and design teams to implement Corrective Actions.
  • Participate in Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and 5S activities to enhance process quality and reduce waste.Role & responsibilities
