We are seeking an experienced Synon Developer to join our team and support the design, development, and maintenance of business-critical applications running on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Synon/2E (CA 2E), RPG, and a solid understanding of IBM i operating systems and CL programming. Experience with JD Edwards World or ERP systems is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and implement applications using Synon/2E (CA 2E) on the AS/400 platform.
  • Maintain and enhance existing RPG/Synon applications based on user and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and end users to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Perform impact analysis, effort estimation, and documentation for enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Develop or modify CL programs, DB2/400 database objects, and interactive/display files.
  • Support system integration with JD Edwards World or other ERP platforms (if applicable).
  • Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and performance optimization.
  • Provide production support, including troubleshooting and resolving application issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation and adhere to coding standards and development methodologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 3+ years of development experience with Synon/2E (CA 2E).
  • Strong understanding of IBM i / AS/400 environment, including RPG (RPG III/IV/ILE) and CL.
  • Experience with DB2/400, physical and logical file creation, and query tools.
  • Familiarity with job scheduling, spool files, and message queues on AS/400.
  • Ability to analyze, debug, and troubleshoot complex legacy systems.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
