JOB TITLE: Tax Accountant
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Prepare and file corporate tax returns accurately and on time, and arrange for tax payments to be made
· Prepare and file other periodic direct and indirect tax returns, e.g. VAT/GST, WHT, etc. and ensure that all payments are made accurately and on time
· Review and ensure that all positions taken in filed tax returns are adequately supported and documented so that all tax submissions are "audit ready"
· Assist with the preparation of local transfer pricing documentation and reports
· Support the tax assessment/audit process and other tax controversy matters, e.g. prepare analyses and reports, compile documentation, etc.
· Analyze and understand tax risks, ensure these are clearly communicated to management, and recommend and implement mitigations
· Identify and implement solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of tax compliance and reporting processes
· Understand and keep up to date with all tax laws and regulations in so far as they impact the Tax Accountant's portfolio
· Ensure full compliance with all tax laws and Petrofac Group policies, standards, and procedures, and ensure that any deviations are corrected promptly and adverse consequences to the organization are mitigated
· Address ad-hoc tax-related queries from colleagues and support ad-hoc tax projects as required
· Ensure that accounting entries in relation to tax are properly made
· Actively manage external tax advisers, their fees and performance, supporting the delivery of the tax fees budget of the business unit.
· Operate a continuously effective financial controls framework to ensure the integrity of the books of accounts of the AS business unit
· Monitor the financial statements risks associated with tax and respond by ensuring the appropriate financial controls are designed, implemented, and operated effectively to provide reasonable assurance on the integrity of the financial statements
· Assess opportunities to optimize the financial controls framework
· Deliver timely, accurate, meaningful and "right first time" support for periodic tax reporting for the AS business unit, e.g. cash tax forecasting, tax compliance tracker, etc.
· Identify ESSA (elimination, standardization, simplification and automation) opportunities, and communicate to relevant stakeholders' inefficiencies including suboptimal processes in transactional accounting processes
· Build and sustain a network of key stakeholders to deliver process improvements
· Improve data management and report automation through close collaboration with the finance systems team and the Information Technology (IT) function
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION & SKILLS:
· Degree-level education in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
· Chartered Accountant (CA) or CA Intermediate qualification.
· Strong technical knowledge of Direct and Indirect Taxation, including Corporate Income Tax (CIT), GST, and TDS.
· Hands-on experience in Oracle systems, including TRCS modules.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, report writing and analytical skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build effective working relationships.
· Capable of critically analyzing existing processes, identifying improvement areas, and implementing change efficiently.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
· Minimum 2 years' experience in taxation with a listed multinational company
· Big 4 Accounting Firm trained, relevant work experience in an EPC contractor or other oilfield services preferred
· Oracle ERP
· Good working knowledge of, and experience of application of IFRS
· Ability to work effectively as part of a global virtual team
· Deadline focused, thrives in a high-pressure environment
· Resilient, ability to self - manage and work autonomously
· Diligent and dependable, works with a high degree of attention to detail
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Willingness to do all requested ad-hoc work
