Position - Piping Design Engineer

Job Location - Corporate Office- Aerocity, New Delhi

Qualification - B.E/B.Tech - Mechanical (Full Time)

Role & responsibilities

Study of process requirements and site conditions to prepare equipment layout and

complete plot plan.

1. Co-ordinate with civil and structural engineers to finalize pipe rack, platforms,

foundations and other structural requirements.

1. Provide support to all purchase activities and evaluate all vendor documents for

technical requirements.

1. Analyse all mechanical data sheet (MDS) and develop required mechanical drawings

like nozzle orientations, support clip drawings etc.

1. Preparation piping layout and isometrics adhering to process requirements, erection,

operation-ability, maintenance and safety.

1. Preparation of piping material specification (PMS) and valve material specification

(VMS).

1. Preparation and regular updation of material take off (MTO) as per changes in piping

layout and process piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID).

1. Review the vendor supplied documents like pump drawings, skid plan, equipment

data sheet etc to ensure piping requirements are fulfilled.

1. Stress analysis of stress critical lines and support making for all the isometrics.

Ensuring sufficient structural members / pedestrals are in place to place all the piping

supports.

1. Co-ordinate with structural and equipment departments for handling excess loads and

structural members and equipment nozzles as an outcome of stress analysis.

1. Verify the requirements of high point vents and low point drains more than specified

in process P&ID to facilitate the hydro testing.

1. Assisting site construction team for any field raised issue by providing immediate

solution.

1. Piping design engineers involvement starts right from the plant feasibility study and

then to detail engineering study and remains till commissioning of chemical plant.

1. Piping Design Engineers deal with the piping routing design of the entire plant.

Knowledge of utilising various design software such as SP3D, PDMS, CADWORX,

SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, PDS, Microstation, E3D, etc. They use their knowledge to

define the most suitable economic pipe routing, type of fittings, space requirement,

and various parameters in the design. A major part of their job involves coordination

with other departments and the resolution of conflicts as and when they occur.

1. Preparing Work Instruction for Designers.

2. Discussing and Analysing problems that arise during Design.

3. Providing technical support to the team.

4. Planning and Scheduling work activities for the piping team.

5. Piping engineer should provide piping design and develop Static and Dynamic piping

models and analyse system stresses using pipe stress analysis software like Caesar II,

Rohr-2 etc.
