Role of a Site Planner (GET) :-
A Site Planner (GET) is responsible for assisting the planning team and site management in preparing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules, resources, and progress. The role ensures that the work at site is aligned with project timelines, budget, and quality standards, while gaining hands-on exposure to project planning tools and techniques.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning & Scheduling
- Assist in preparing baseline project schedules using planning software (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
- Break down project scope into WBS (Work Breakdown Structure).
- Develop weekly and monthly work programs in line with project master schedule.
2. Monitoring & Progress Tracking
- Collect daily progress data from site engineers.
- Update schedules and highlight slippages, delays, and resource constraints.
- Assist in preparing progress reports, dashboards, and presentations.
3. Coordination & Communication
- Support coordination between site execution team, subcontractors, and planning department.
- Attend review meetings and prepare minutes of meeting (MoM).
- Escalate potential delays or risks to senior planners/project managers.
4. Resource & Cost Planning
- Track manpower, equipment, and material usage at site.
- Assist in preparing look-ahead schedules (weekly/monthly).
- Support cost control and billing team in resource planning and productivity tracking.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily/weekly site planning records.
- Prepare S-curves, histograms, and progress charts.
- Support claim documentation in case of delays/variations.
6. Learning & Development
- Gain exposure to project planning tools and techniques.
- Understand contractual requirements related to planning and scheduling.
- Develop technical and managerial skills under the guidance of senior planners.
