This position focus on the research, design, and development of High Voltage (HV) switchgear solutions tailored for wind turbine applications. This role requires knowledge in HV electrical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of offshore and onshore wind turbines. The Lead Engineer will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, suppliers, and certification bodies to develop state-of-the-art HV switchgear solutions optimized for wind energy applications.ResponsibilitiesDirect the design, development, and validation of HV switchgear for wind turbines, ensuring performance, safety, and reliabilityProvide technical guidance in HV insulation coordination, dielectric performance, and switching technologies for wind energy applicationsEnsure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements specific to wind turbine electrical systemsConduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical reviews for new and existing switchgear products in the wind energy sectorCollaborate with internal teams, including mechanical, electrical, and testing engineers, to optimize switchgear designs for integration into wind turbinesInterface with suppliers, customers, and certification bodies to ensure switchgear solutions meet project and regulatory requirementsSupport field teams in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to HV switchgear in wind turbine applicationsParticipate in research initiatives on SF6-free alternatives and emerging HV switchgear technologies for wind turbinesContribute to cost reduction, performance improvement, and sustainability initiatives within the wind power sectorMentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best engineering practices for HV switchgear in renewable energy applicationsManage offshore wind turbine (WTG) customer projects, ensuring timely document deliverables, handling TQs, supporting interface engineering, and participating in supplier FATConduct switchgear supplier qualification through technical design reviews, testing, and quality & reliability assessments specific to wind turbine applicationsQualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in HV switchgear design, development, or testing in wind energy applicationsGood knowledge of electrical power systems, insulation materials, and switching mechanismsFamiliarity with high-voltage laboratory testing and validation proceduresAbility to manage projects and work in multidisciplinary teamsExperience with IEC 61850 communication, Substation Automation System/SCADA, signals, and relay configurationsExperience in Gas Insulated Switchgear cost modelingProficiency in switchgear electrical drawings & schematics is essential; experience in protection coordination studies using ETAP/DigSilentCompetenciesExpert analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and stakeholder managementProject management and organizational skillsAbility to work alone and make informed technical decisionsMotivated, goal-oriented, and possess a solution-oriented mindset with a strong attitudeInnovation-driven mindset to enhance product developmentAttention to detail and focus on qualityProficiency in EnglishKnowledge of sustainability trends in the wind energy industryWhat We OfferWe offer an exciting job with good opportunities for professional and personal development in an inspiring, innovative, collaborative, and international work environment in the renewable energy sector.
