Position: School Librarian

Department: Academic Support

Reporting To: Principal / Academic Coordinator

Working Hours: As per school schedule

*Job Purpose

To manage the school library efficiently, support students and teachers in accessing learning resources, promote reading habits, and ensure proper maintenance and organization of all learning materials.

* Key Responsibilities

1 Library Management

Organize, catalogue, and maintain books, journals, digital media, and reference materials.

Ensure the library is clean, safe, and student-friendly.

Monitor the issue and return of books using manual or digital library systems.

Maintain library records, stock registers, and usage logs.

2 Student Support

Guide students in selecting age-appropriate reading materials.

Encourage reading habits through storytelling, reading circles, and book discussions.

Assist students in locating reference materials for projects and assignments.

3 Academic Support

Coordinate with teachers to procure relevant books and study materials.

Support project and research work for students of all classes.

Provide curated reading lists aligned with curriculum.

4 Inventory & Procurement

Maintain annual inventory of all library resources.

Recommend new books, magazines, and learning aids.

Assist in budgeting and purchasing of library resources.

5 Technology & Digital Literacy

Operate and maintain digital library systems (if available).

Support e-books, educational apps, and online learning platforms.

6. Library Events & Programs

Plan and execute Book fairs,Author visits, Reading week, Storytelling sessions, Literary competitions

Required Skills:

1.Bachelor's /Master's in Library (B.Lib/M Lib)
